Like a Little Prayer, Or a Virgin

Posted: August 27th, 2004 | Author: themarkpike | Filed under: Stuff |

I met a man today who said he works on the road construction outside of Pennsylvania Ave. Everybody in his union dislikes President Bush, so they’ve taken an absurd amount of time to complete the roadwork on purpose. In fact, he claims that his unit has “inadvertently” cut off the power and water supplies to the White House while drilling on two separate occasions. I’m not sure if he was lying or not. When he shook my hand, he held it with confidence and looked me in the eyes with promise. He believed in me, which made me believe in him and his word. Even if his words did involve federal sabotage crimes.
I have been practicing my Spanish while going door to door. I have learned that latinos who are in the process of becoming citizens are more excited about their ability to participate in this government than people who actually have a vote. This makes me really optimistic and angry at the same time. I guess I’ll write more later once I’ve had the opportunity to digest the importance of certain macro-political movements.
Oh, I also spoke to a Peruvian women for 30 mins about how much she loves Kenny Rogers and Dolly Pardon.
In the meantime….

    Mark,
As a fellow beautiful man, I feel that it is my obligation to steer you in the right direction. Please do not waste your time with the DNC. John Kerry and his impoverished wife are eviler than al-Qaeda and Skeletor combined. They inspire your DNC buddies in NYC, making my commute into the city nearly impossible while putting my family in great danger. We are at war and must not let our guard down. Think outside the box Mark. See the big picture. Democrats are quick to complain, but do not realize that it is their nonspecific selfish agenda that creates their own problems and will ultimately lead the nation into a socialist state of anarchy. I’ll save examples for the next posting. I’ve already wasted enough of my time.

    Thank you DNC

    Fellow Beautiful Man,
I don’t think I’m wasting my time with the DNC. But then again, I have that same response when I watch Sportscenter for the 3rd straight time.
I don’t want to write stories about my personal policies and political viewpoints. I started this page so I could write about the wacky adventures I have going door to door. I don’t agree with everything the DNC does. I do agree with the DNC that it’s necessary to go door to door to listen to people’s need and wants as a community. I don’t think change for the better will come from $2,000 dollar a plate dinners.
In summary, save your didactic rap schtick so you don’t have to get your lips waxed with chapstick. Keep reading this blog for funny posts about people not wearing pants when they answer their door. You can skim over any parts that you feel are particularly partisan. Party on.
I hope your commute improves. But don’t blame the DNC for that one. Blame the anarchists or the Republicans who invaded the city.

Thanks for clearing up the difference between anarchists and democrats. Regardless, I know you mean well. You’re beautiful after all. By the way….don’t expect the $2000 dinners to go away with a change in administration. Heinz-Kerry has expensive taste.
