Austin by Midnight
Posted: July 29th, 2005 | Author: themarkpike | Filed under: Stuff |“If you had a pair of binoculars, you could see where I was born, or where JFK was shot”.
We didn’t have binoculars, or time to stop, so we cruised by the grassy knoll, the hospital and set out for Austin by midnight.
Somewhere along the way, I got hungry. I had to decide between the familiar, and uncharted territory. The Wendy’s or the Whataburger.
In the spirit of the road trip, I approached the cash register at Whataburger.
“Hi. I’m from the East Coast and I’ve never been to a Whataburger before.”
“Welcome to Whataburger.”
“Thank you. Listen, I know what I’m getting myself in to if I go next door to Wendy’s. I like their product over there. I was wondering if you guys do it even better over here.”
“First and foremost, I really think you’re going to enjoy your experience here at Whataburger. Not only are our burgers better than Wendy’s, and I like Wendy’s and what they do there, but I believe our burgers are very fresh and we put a trememdous amount of effort and care in to everything we do here.”
“I appreciate your honesty and confidence. I think I’ll have the number 7 combo with fries.”
After I was done, I crumpeld the orange and white paper bag carefully so the kethcup wouldn’t leak through before we arrived in Austin by midnight.
You’re gonna become an asset, at some future time.
