Law School Barbie
Posted: October 9th, 2006 | Author: Mark Pike | Filed under: Law School |My friends who are curious about what happens in law school classes, I present thee with the following excerpt from a class on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure:
It is difficult to imagine that the Barbie doll, so perfect in her sculpture and presentation, and so comfortable in every setting, from “California girl” to “Chief Executive Officer Barbie,” could spawn such acrimonious litigation and such egregious conduct on the part of her challenger. In her wildest dreams, Barbie could not have imagined herself in the middle of Rule 11 proceedings. But the intersection of copyrights on Barbie sculptures and the scope of Rule 11 is precisely what defines this case.
And that, my friends, is the gem known as Christian v. Mattell, Inc.
Barbie once got in some trouble when she said, “Math class is tough!” So true, Barbie. Let’s stick to the legalese. It’s so much easier and much more entertaining.
Math is really tough Barbie…I feel ya.
Thanks for the sweet ipod case, everyone is obscenely jealous
Glad you like it! The congratulatory note was written using the typewriter featured on the blog masthead.
I figured it was written on a typewriter and I had a suspicion it might have been the sweet red one. It also smelled of cologne, so now maybe my mailbox won’t smell like wet metal as it usually does
Cologne? Ha! I don’t even own any.
What if I invented stationery with built-in cologne and perfume?! Hmmm….
I like the idea, I would buy it as I will admit that on occasion I have spritzed a letter with fragrance. Maybe my mail carrier has a perfumed mail bag?
